Christopher J. Benjamin

Christopher J. Benjamin is senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. and general manager of Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company, a division of A&B. Benjamin joined A&B in 2001 as director, corporate development and planning, and was promoted to vice president in 2003. In 2004, he was promoted to chief financial officer. In this capacity, he oversees all financial matters of A&B and its subsidiaries. In 2006, he took on the responsibilities of treasurer. In March 2009, Benjamin also was appointed general manager of HC&S, responsible for the day-to-day farming and factory operations.

Prior to joining A&B, Benjamin held positions with General Motor, Sony Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton.

Benjamin is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School. A Hawaii resident since 1992, Benjamin has served in non-profit leadership capacities at the local and national level. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of the Maui Chamber of Commerce, the Institute for Human Services and The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii.

Norbert M. Buelsing

Norb Buelsing is responsible for the management of the Company's real estate assets, including approximately 88,000 acres of land and an improved portfolio of over eight million square feet of leasable space. He was appointed president in October 2008. Prior to his appointment, Buelsing had been executive vice-president of A&B Properties, responsible for the company's commercial portfolio in Hawaii and on the Mainland.

He previously was executive vice president and chief operating officer for Chaney Brooks & Company, a Hawaii real estate firm. He earned his bachelors' degree from the University of Cincinnati and serves as the Company's principal broker.

Meredith J. Ching

Meredith J. Ching joined Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. in 1982 as executive assistant-corporate natural resources. In 1986, she was promoted to director-natural resources development. She was named vice president in April 1988. In 2007, she was promoted to senior vice president.

Before coming to A&B, Ching held the position of financial analyst with the Dillingham Corporation for two years.

Ching is a board member and past president of the Land Use Research Foundation, and a member of the Urban Land Institute Hawaii District Council’s Executive Committee. Her community involvement currently includes the boards of the Girl Scouts of Hawaii, Hawaii Nature Center and Kapiolani Health Foundation. Past community involvement includes service on the boards of Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, YMCA, HMSA, Palama Settlement, Neighborhood Justice Center, and Child and Family Service.

Her past government service activities included the State of Hawaii Commission on Water Resource Management, the State Board of Agriculture, City & County of Honolulu Charter Commission, Mayor’s Task Force to develop the Pacific Nations Center and the Governor’s Task Force on the Department of Environmental Protection.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Stanford University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles.

Nelson N. S. Chun

Nelson Chun is senior vice president and chief legal officer of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. ("A&B"). He joined A&B in November 2003 as vice president and general counsel.

Prior to joining A&B, he had been a partner with the Honolulu law firm of Cades Schutte LLP, where he had been a member of the firm's Management Committee and its Partner Compensation Committee. He had also been the Chair of the firm's Business Organizations Practice Group and its Health Care Practice Group. He joined Cades Schutte in 1978, and became a partner in 1983.

While in private practice, he had been elected by his peers as one of "America's Best Lawyers" and as one of "America's Leading Business Lawyers," as noted in the Chambers and Partners USA Guide.

Before joining Cades Schutte, he was a law clerk to The Honorable Dick Yin Wong, Judge, United States District Court, District of Hawaii, from 1977 to 1978.

He is a 1974 graduate of Claremont McKenna College, and a 1977 graduate of Northwestern University School of Law.

Matthew J. Cox

Matthew J. Cox is president of Matson Navigation Company. Cox's responsibilities encompass the five major divisions of Matson: ocean services, operations, Pacific, finance and IT services, as well as corporate development and planning, human resources and public relations. He also oversees Matson's logistics subsidiary, Matson Integrated Logistics, as well as its terminal subsidiary in Honolulu, Matson Terminals.

Cox joined Matson in June 2001 as senior vice president and chief financial officer. In 2002, Cox assumed the additional role of controller and given added responsibilities for information services and corporate development. In 2005, he became executive vice president and chief operating officer. He had a key role in the start up of Matson's China - Long Beach Express in 2006. In addition to his Matson responsibilities, Cox is also a member of the board of managers of SSAT.

Prior to Matson, Cox had 15 years of experience in the transportation industry, 12 of which were spent at American President Lines, Ltd. (APL). From 1999 to 2001, he held executive posts at Distribution Dynamics, Inc., a provider of outsourced logistics, inventory management and integrated information systems based in Danville, California; he was the company's executive vice president and chief operating officer at the time he joined Matson. From 1987 to 1999, Cox held positions of increasing responsibility at APL, covering both financial and operational aspects of the company, including vice president, refrigerated container market; managing director, Middle East, Africa, Indian Subcontinent Region Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and director, financial support services.

Cox has a B.S. in accounting and finance from the University of California, Berkeley and is a certified public accountant and a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Paul K. Ito

Paul Ito joined A&B in April 2005 as director of internal audit; he was named controller on May 1, 2006 and, on April 1, 2007, he was promoted to vice president, controller and assistant treasurer.

Previously, Ito worked for Deloitte & Touche for nine years, where in his most recent position, he was a senior manager in the accounting consultation and research group of Deloitte's San Francisco national office.

Ito is a certified public accountant and holds both a master's degree of professional accounting with a concentration in managerial accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor's degree in finance and marketing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Ito has earned several prestigious academic honors including the Elijah Watt Sells Gold Medal Award for obtaining the highest score in the nation on the May 1996 CPA exam.

Alyson J. Nakamura

Alyson J. Nakamura joined Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. in 1994 as assistant secretary of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. and corporate secretary of A&B-Hawaii, Inc., which then was A&B's property management and development, and food products subsidiary. In 1999 she was promoted to corporate secretary and counsel, and in 2003 she was promoted to corporate secretary and assistant general counsel.

Before coming to A&B, Nakamura was an associate with the law firm of Cades Schutte Fleming & Wright. Nakamura has been involved in director and officership roles with the Coalition for a Drug Free Hawaii, the A&B Sugar Museum and the Hawaii Society of Corporate Secretaries.

She holds a bachelor of business administration degree in finance from the University of Hawaii and a law degree from the University of California at Davis.

Son-Jai Paik

In 2007, Son-Jai Paik was named vice president, human resources for Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. He is responsible for all human resources functions for A&B and its subsidiaries, including employee development and training, benefits, and compensation.

Paik began his career in human resources in 1998 in CIGNA Corporation's Human Resource Development Program, a rotation-based program aimed at developing future HR leaders. In 2000, he joined Cigna International Expatriate Benefits (CIEB) and held a series of positions with increasing responsibility within CIEB before being appointed, in 2003, vice president of human resources for LINA Korea, CIGNA International's largest operation in the Asia Pacific region and the second largest contributor of divisional revenues and earnings worldwide. At LINA Korea, Paik was a strategic partner with business unit executives and oversaw all human resources functions including search and staffing, leadership planning and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations and general HR services.

Paik is a graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor's degree in economics and earned master's degrees from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
